Job Title: Technical Sales Representative
Location: France + home base + Dijon area
Reports To: Managing director
Our client is an international producer of industrial circular saw blades for metal applications. Their Corporate headquarters and manufacturing plant is based in the Netherlands and they have subsidiaries in China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. With their unique combination of HSS, TCT and segmental saw blades, they are able to serve customers in the oil and gas, automotive, mechanical engineering and construction industries. In total, they have 14 sales and service locations and 4 production locations. The products are mainly exported and sold up to 80 countries worldwide. To strengthen our client’s French Sales team, they are looking for a dedicated Technical Sales Representative.
As a Technical Sales Representative, you will serve as a crucial link between the company and its clients, ensuring a strong relationship by providing expert technical solutions and product recommendations. You will be responsible for understanding the customer’s needs, presenting appropriate products or services, and closing sales. Your role requires a blend of technical knowledge and sales skills to offer solutions that meet the customer’s technical and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Portfolio Management: Develop and manage a portfolio of existing and prospective clients, maintain regular communication to build relationships, understand their needs, and identify sales opportunities.
- Technical Solution Selling: Understand and present complex technical products or services to customers, ensuring alignment with their specific requirements. Offer tailored solutions by collaborating with engineering and product teams.
- Market Analysis: Identify market trends and customer demands by staying up to date with industry developments. Provide feedback to R&D and marketing teams on customer needs and product improvements.
- Sales Target Achievement: Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets by actively promoting products to customers and closing sales deals in a timely manner.
- Customer Support & Consultation: Provide ongoing technical support and advice to customers before and after sales, ensuring satisfaction with product performance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Product Demonstrations & Presentations: Conduct product demonstrations, site visits, and technical workshops to showcase product capabilities, either in-person or virtually.
- Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support: Work closely with internal teams such as R&D, application engineer, Marketing, and Customer Support to ensure product fit, effective marketing strategies, and smooth delivery of solutions.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of client interactions, sales activities, forecasts, prepare weekly sales and performance reports for management review.
- Travel Requirements: Travel to customer sites, trade shows, or events as needed to meet with clients and represent the company.
Qualifications and Skills:
- BUT (Diplôme Universitaire Technique Génie Mécanqiue et Productique), Bachelor’s degree, Business, or a related technical field. (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial related is preferred).
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in technical sales, selling complex products or systems such as machinery, or industrial equipment.
- Technical Expertise: Strong technical acumen and the ability to understand and discuss complex technical concepts with clients. Familiarity with metal or steel work environment is a plus.
- Sales Skills: Proven ability to generate leads, close deals, and exceed sales targets in a B2B environment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical details clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Customer-Centric Approach: Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-first mentality. Ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
- Problem Solving: Skilled in identifying customer pain points and offering suitable technical solutions.
- Tools: Proficiency in using MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Other Requirements: Willingness to travel as necessary (up to 50% of the time). Fluency in English.
