Sales recruitment in
the Netherlands
Account Executives, Sales Directors, VPs and Country Managers Benelux placed across Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Eindhoven. Native Dutch sourcing, written comp benchmarks and a single accountable consultant on every search.
The Netherlands is our home market for sales recruitment and the single largest country by search volume on our desk. From Amsterdam SaaS scale-ups to Rotterdam logistics groups and Eindhoven high-tech systems vendors, we place commercial leadership week in, week out for businesses selling into Benelux, EMEA or globally from a Dutch base. Roughly four in ten of our active sales mandates sit inside the Netherlands, which means we know the comp bands, the candidate pools and the buyer rituals of the Dutch sales market more intimately than any other European geography.
A typical Dutch sales brief on our desk is a Series B or Series C SaaS company hiring its first VP Sales out of Amsterdam, a US scale-up landing a Country Manager Benelux ahead of an EMEA expansion, an established Dutch industrial group quietly replacing a Sales Director after a missed forecast, or a private equity-backed portfolio company appointing a CRO to drive the next leg of growth before exit. Each search is run by a single accountable consultant with native-Dutch sourcing capacity and a reference network built over a decade of Dutch placements.
Sales hiring in the Netherlands rewards directness, calibrated written briefs and honest negotiation. Senior commercial candidates here will challenge a vague brief, expect a transparent process and walk if interview feedback is coded or slow. We coach hiring teams through the cultural transition where it matters and brief candidates honestly on the role, the team and the realistic upside, so that final-stage drop-outs are vanishingly rare.

- Market context -
The Dutch sales talent market in 2026
The Dutch B2B sales market is small enough that senior candidates know each other and large enough that off-market sourcing genuinely pays off. Amsterdam concentrates SaaS, fintech, AdTech and B2B platform sales leadership, with a deep bench of Country Manager Benelux and VP Sales EMEA candidates moving between Series B and Series D scale-ups. Rotterdam adds logistics, energy transition, maritime and port-adjacent enterprise sales, while Utrecht is increasingly the centre of gravity for B2B SaaS, sustainability and mid-market technology sales.
Eindhoven and the Brainport region operate to a different rhythm. Senior sales here lean technical, sell long-cycle complex equipment or semiconductor solutions and respond best to written, content-rich outreach. Companies that import a generic Amsterdam SaaS playbook into Eindhoven typically misjudge the candidate pool. We tailor each Dutch search to the city and the buyer.
On the demand side, the Dutch sales pool is heavily English-fluent above team-lead level, fluent in remote and hybrid commercial workflows and increasingly comfortable owning revenue across multiple Benelux or DACH countries. Senior individual contributor (Strategic Account Executive, Enterprise AE) supply has tightened sharply over the last 24 months as US and European scale-ups have built out Amsterdam hubs.
- What we recruit -
Sales roles we recruit in the Netherlands
Across the full commercial funnel, with most weight at Director, VP and Country Manager level. Every search is fully cross-border-capable, with native Dutch sourcing as standard and DACH or French-speaking sourcing layered on where the brief requires it.
- VP Sales EMEA based in Amsterdam
- Country Manager Benelux
- Chief Revenue Officer for Series C+ scale-ups
- Sales Director Netherlands or Benelux
- Head of Enterprise Sales
- Senior Enterprise Account Executive (NL or Benelux territory)
- Head of New Business or Head of Strategic Accounts
- Sales Operations and RevOps Director
- Director of Channel and Partner Sales
Most of our Dutch sales mandates land in the 130k to 250k EUR base salary range. Where the brief calls for a senior Strategic Account Executive (carrying a multi-million-EUR Benelux quota into named enterprise logos) we run the same retained search process; where the brief is a CRO scaling a Series D toward IPO, we plan around a 12 to 16 week search cycle and a 3 to 6 month notice period. We do not staff junior SDR or BDR roles as standalone searches.
- Compensation -
Senior sales compensation benchmarks (Amsterdam-based)
Dutch sales packages typically combine a base salary, an OTE-driven variable, equity in scale-up environments, a leased company car or mobility allowance for field roles and a holiday allowance (8 percent of gross). The 30 percent ruling, where it applies, materially shifts net take-home for relocating candidates and is often the deciding factor in close races. Total cash figures below are ranges we have actually offered and seen accepted on Amsterdam-based mandates over the last 18 months.
| Role | Base | Bonus | Equity | Total cash |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Senior Enterprise AE | 90k - 130k | 50/50 OTE | Modest scale-up grant | 180k - 260k |
| Sales Director Benelux | 130k - 175k | 40 - 60% | 0.10 - 0.30% | 180k - 280k |
| VP Sales EMEA | 180k - 220k | 50 - 80% | 0.30 - 0.80% | 270k - 400k |
| Country Manager Benelux | 180k - 240k | 40 - 70% | 0.40 - 1.00% | 250k - 410k |
| Chief Revenue Officer | 220k - 320k | 50 - 100% | 1.0 - 3.0% | 330k - 640k |
Indicative ranges for VC-backed scale-ups and PE-backed mid-market businesses based in Amsterdam. Eindhoven and regional Mittelstand-style employers typically run 10 to 15 percent below. Dutch enterprise groups (CAO-led) sit lower on base but carry materially stronger pension and benefits.
- Local mechanics -
Notice periods, contracts and the 30 percent ruling
Senior Dutch sales hires typically carry a one-month notice period at AE level, two to three months at Director level and three to six months at VP and CRO level. Contracts are written in Dutch under Dutch law (governed by the Dutch Civil Code) even when the working language is English, and termination requires either UWV approval, court ruling or a mutually agreed vaststellingsovereenkomst. We plan around start dates 8 to 16 weeks out from offer signing and brief every candidate on gardening leave, non-compete clauses and the typical transition fee (transitievergoeding).
For non-EU sales hires, the Highly Skilled Migrant (Kennismigrant) route is the default. It requires the employer to be an IND-recognised sponsor and to meet a salary threshold (around 5,700 EUR gross per month for under-30s and 5,300 EUR for 30-plus, revised annually). Processing typically takes two to four weeks once the sponsor file is complete.
The 30 percent ruling reduces the taxable portion of salary for the first five years of Dutch employment for qualifying hires recruited from outside the Netherlands. We share a credible net-offer comparison alongside the gross package on every relocation candidate and coordinate with specialist Dutch payroll, immigration and global mobility partners so the offer is signed without surprises.
- Why Go Ahead HiRe -
Why founders and PE sponsors brief us on Dutch sales searches
A short, honest answer for why specialist boutiques like Go Ahead HiRe still beat large generalist firms on senior Dutch sales mandates.
Native Dutch sourcing as standard
Every Dutch sales search is run with native-Dutch sourcing capacity rather than English-only LinkedIn outreach. That alone changes the calibre of who replies to the first message.
Calibrated longlist in two to three weeks
Most searches see a written calibrated longlist within 14 to 21 days of kickoff, regardless of seniority. We share the full longlist, not only the shortlist, so the hiring team helps shape calibration.
Honest comp and net-offer modelling
We share role-specific Dutch comp benchmarks before the shortlist lands, and a 30-percent-ruling-adjusted net-offer model for every relocation candidate. Final-stage offer surprises are vanishingly rare.
A single accountable consultant
No research-handover model. The consultant who takes the brief sources, calibrates, debriefs and closes. You speak to one person from kickoff through 90-day review.

How long does a senior sales search in the Netherlands typically take?
Director and VP-level Dutch sales searches typically close in 8 to 12 weeks from kickoff. We commit to a calibrated longlist within 2 to 3 weeks and a written shortlist within 4 to 5 weeks. CRO and Country Manager mandates with three-to-six-month notice periods stretch toward 14 to 18 weeks end to end.

Do you run Country Manager Benelux searches end to end across NL and BE?
Yes. About a third of our Dutch sales mandates carry a Benelux remit (Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg). We source actively in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Brussels, Antwerp and Luxembourg City and brief candidates on the realistic split of HQ time, customer geography and Belgian language requirements (Dutch, French or both) before shortlist.

How do you handle the 30 percent ruling in offer negotiations?
We model the gross-to-net impact of the 30 percent ruling for every relocating candidate at shortlist stage and surface it in the written offer brief. We do not act as tax advisors but we coordinate with specialist Dutch payroll counsel so the candidate sees a realistic net comparison alongside their current package before they accept.

Can you replace an underperforming Dutch sales leader confidentially?
Yes. Confidential replacement of an incumbent VP Sales, Sales Director or Country Manager is one of our most common Dutch mandates. We run the search off-market with no public job ad, the incumbent learns nothing until the moment of handover and we coordinate with employment counsel on the vaststellingsovereenkomst before the new hire signs.

What replacement guarantee do you offer on Dutch sales placements?
On retained Dutch sales searches we restart the search at no additional fee if the placed candidate leaves voluntarily or is dismissed for cause within the agreed guarantee period. Typical terms are 3 to 6 months for senior individual contributors and Sales Directors, 6 to 12 months for VP and CRO mandates. Exact terms are confirmed in writing before kickoff.
