How we use a submitted CV

Every CV submitted on this page lands directly in encrypted European object storage and is read personally, within 5 business days, by Darcie or one of the senior consultants. There is no automated screening bot, no keyword filter and no recruitment-process-outsourcing layer in between. If your profile fits the kind of senior international roles we run, we add a structured tagging entry to our private database covering seniority, function, target geographies, language fluency, comp band and stated motivation.

From that point on, your CV is matched against every relevant brief that lands, both publicly advertised on our open positions page and confidentially briefed by clients. We only reach out when there is a genuine fit for a live role. No newsletters, no recruiter spam, no mass blasts.

Under GDPR we keep your CV for 24 months from the last meaningful contact, after which we either request renewed consent or fully delete the record. You can request access, correction, export or deletion of your data at any time by emailing the address in our privacy statement. We never sell or share your CV with third parties for marketing.

If a role we contact you about is not the right fit, you stay in the network. Most placements we make every year come from candidates who joined the database speculatively and were a perfect match for a brief that landed 6 to 18 months later. Patience pays off in senior international recruitment.

What makes a strong senior CV in Europe

Honest, practical advice from reading thousands of senior international CVs across the six core European markets we cover.

Length: two to three pages, no more

European hiring managers expect concision. Two pages for individual contributors and lead roles, three pages for senior leadership. A six-page CV signals a lack of editorial judgement before anyone reads a word of content.

Language: English first

For cross-border European roles, submit in clear English. Add a localised version (Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian) if the role is fully in-country and you are confident in the local language at written level.

Quantify outcomes, not duties

Replace "responsible for European sales" with "grew European ARR from 4 million to 18 million euro across NL, DE and FR in 24 months, hiring a team of 11". Numbers, currencies, geographies, time frames.

Mark language fluency honestly

Use CEFR levels (A1 to C2) rather than vague labels like "fluent" or "conversational". Senior European hiring managers know the difference and will test it during the interview process.

Country, dates, employment type

For each role, list the country, exact start and end month, and whether the role was permanent, interim, contract or fractional. Gaps are fine if explained briefly. Hidden gaps raise flags later.

Skip the photo and the date of birth

Common in some European markets, increasingly avoided in cross-border senior search to support fair, bias-resistant assessment. The exception is regulated industries where local employment paperwork still requires them.

How does Go Ahead HiRe handle my CV and personal data?

Your CV is uploaded directly to encrypted European object storage and is only accessed by named Go Ahead HiRe consultants. We never publish a CV anywhere, never share it with a client without your explicit, written consent for a specific role, and never approach your references without your go-ahead. What happens after I submit my CV?

We log your profile against the briefs we are actively running and the searches we expect to launch. When a relevant role lands - either a public one from the open positions page or a confidential mandate - the responsible consultant sets up a 30 to 45 minute confidential introduction call. You hear from us only when there is a real fit. No newsletter, no recruiter spam.

How often does Go Ahead HiRe launch new senior international roles?

On average we run 8 to 12 active senior searches at any moment across the six core European markets and our six core disciplines (sales, marketing, management, operations, engineering, consultancy). Around half are confidential and never advertised. Submitting your CV is the most reliable way to be considered for those off-market roles.

Can I submit my CV without a specific role in mind?

Yes - and we encourage it. Most of our placements come from senior professionals who joined the network speculatively before a relevant brief landed. Add a one-paragraph note about what would tempt you to move (sector, scope, country, comp band) and we will only reach out when something genuinely matches. We are happy to keep you in the network for years.
